How does virtualization conflict with multi-tenancy? Both technologies leverage and share hardware and both can use the same code base? I would argue that virtualization allows for better application version control and deployment.

    Please help clarify.

If you have true multi-tenant SaaS (and I’ve written about this extensively on my blog, along with the related business benefits that go far beyond TCO), you can certainly use virtualization to achieve even better TCO. And that’s a good thing. But without true multi-tenant SaaS done properly, you simply don’t get the full measure of benefits even if you use virtualization to achieve improvements in the server components of TCO.
