CRM reaches the heart of small business — metaphorically, of course
For years, we have been talking about the value of CRM for small business. Yet, we the pundits of whatever, always have been publicly puzzled by what we thought was the slowness of small businesses to adopt CRM. How dare they buck the trend that we were declaring! Admittedly, what we were talking about was […]
CES 2012 Report
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year attracted 153k attendees (10% increase over last year), with 34K attendees being international. This was another event that showcased the continuing evolution of consumer electronic devices rather than anything revolutionary. Mobility and internet connectivity dominated the exhibits. My focus continues to be on the implications of these themes on our SaaS, adtech, mobility and big data strategies. Google’s influence was felt strongly this year both because of Motorola’s presence but also because of the incorporation of Android in many mobile devices and TVs, and so was Apple’s based on the number of iOS…

Oracle OpenWorld 2011: 10110101010…No, Really
Oracle, Oracle, Oracle. WHAT am I going to DO with you? On the one hand, you have certain parts of you that are very, very good. Word is (from a colleague or two who spends time talking to your customers) that your customers are generally content with you, though not ecstatic. All in all, you […]

A Social Baptism for the Enterprise. Hallelujah and Amen.
About this time last month, I was undergoing a crisis of faith. Faith in what brought me to this space: the promise of what the next generation web could be and could do to change business as we know it, as well as society at large. My faith was shaken by a few ripples […]

A few days ago I participated in Pacific Crest’s workshop for private SaaS companies. This workshop is being held every year as part of Pacific Crest’s technology conference. In addition to the spirited discussion among SaaS company executives and investors, during the workshop Pacific Crest’s Brendan Barnicle and David Spitz presented the results of two […]

Enterprise 2.0: Seeing from the Back Forward
Okay, before I begin, a confession. I just spent 3 days at the Enterprise 2.0 2011 confab in Boston – and didn’t attend a single event that I didn’t do. But I have several excuses and I think that I’m still qualified to write what I’m about write. First, I participated in 4 events, the […]

At the conference, I explored themes related to business transformation, cloud, and IT success. This post highlights specific products, services, people, and issues that caught my attention. In […]
